An Incredible Display of Athletic Skill and Sportsmanship
The thunderous applause and cheers of the crowd swept across the Primary School grounds, electrifying the atmosphere and igniting the competitive spirit of our young athletes as they gathered for the Annual Athletic Meet on 14th June 2024. The presence of our Chief Guest, Mrs. Lalanee Perera, and Guest of Honour, Community Leader Rev. Sr. Francine Muthugala added significant prestige to the occasion.
Unlike tradition, the house tents were not draped predominantly in house colours. Instead, a dazzling mix of colours adorned each tent, reflecting the theme “Children are the Future of the World.” Each house represented a different continent – Borgia House showcased the icy landscapes of Antarctica, Coudert House the vibrant cultures of Asia, Griaux House the wonders of America, and Melizan House with its African-themed tent.
From the Opening Ceremony’s grand display of the games prefects passing the Olympic torch and lighting of the flame, the day was filled with incredible feats of athleticism, sportsmanship and pride.
The gymnasts and choristers delivered a spectacular opening performance, captivating the audience with their seamless skill and agility. Students from Grades 1 to 5 competed with their hearts on their sleeves, determined to bring glory to their house teams. The highly anticipated drill display wowed the crowd with its flawless precision and coordination, earning a rapturous applause.
The true spirit of the day was not just about individual glory. It was about the collaboration and unity that bound the houses and grades together.
The champions may have had their medals and trophies glinting in the sun, but every single participant left the field a winner, with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
