Our Lenten Walk with Christ
At St. Bridget’s Convent Primary School, the season of Lent is not merely observed—it is experienced.
Each classroom became a sacred space, as altars were set up with care and reverence, each bearing a crucifix and a crown of thorns. These symbols invited students to contemplate the depth of Christ’s love and suffering.
Morning prayers took on a particular focus during this season. Each day, the school reflected on one Station of the Cross.
These reflections, brief though they were, helped centre our days with purpose and peace.
One of the most profound experiences was the open-air Way of the Cross. Students re-enacted each station with remarkable sensitivity, making the journey to Calvary vivid and tangible.
Following this, a solemn procession wound its way through the school grounds, with students stationed along the path, quietly depicting each moment of Christ’s passion. The silence, the stillness—it lingered.
The veneration of the cross was another deeply moving moment. Each teacher stepped forward, lamp in hand, and whispered a prayer for their students.
Each student also approached the cross reverently and kissed it in silence.
The following day, the significant events of Holy Week were brought to life through student-led dramatizations. From the triumph of Palm Sunday to the sorrow of Good Friday and the joy of Easter morning, students drew the entire school into the heart of the Paschal Mystery.
To further enrich the experience, a Lenten quiz was held, inspiring students to deepen their understanding of the season. The winners were recognised, but the greater reward lay in the knowledge and insight shared.
As a Catholic institution, St. Bridget’s Convent is deeply committed to nurturing faith alongside learning. These Lenten observances reminded our students that the values of the Kingdom are not distant ideals, but daily invitations to live with love, humility, and compassion.
