Welcoming Our Newest Bridgetines to the Hallowed Halls of St. Bridget’s

On the vibrant morning of 22nd January 2026, St. Bridget’s Convent Primary School radiated with excitement as it hosted the Annual Kiddies Welcome Ceremony. This auspicious occasion marked the induction of 180 fortunate little ones of the 124th Grade One batch into our prestigious institution, under the watchful and loving care of our Principal, Rev. Sr. Dilrukshika Silva.

The morning took on a magical, princess-inspired theme as the children stepped through the school gates, warmly greeted by their teachers and crowned with a delicate tiara, a symbolic gesture recognising the inherent potential within every girl. Extending a beautiful spirit of sisterhood, the Grade 2 students proudly escorted their younger companions to the auditorium, making them feel cherished and truly at home from the very first moment.

The ceremony commenced with a solemn prayer service, invoking God’s blessings upon our newest Bridgetines. The homilist and special guest, Rev. Fr. Shehan Kandanearachchi, graciously favoured the children with a heartfelt blessing and addressed the parents with words of wisdom and encouragement. Drawing inspiration from Proverbs 22:6, “Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their life,” he urged families to deepen their relationship with their children by keeping God at the centre of their homes.

A series of delightful entertainment items followed, leaving our little princesses wide-eyed with wonder. Two confident Grade 2 students then took the stage to recount a few fond experiences of school, from the excitement of their initial interviews to the joy of daily school life.

The morning concluded on a heart-warming note as photographs were taken of parents together with their children, treasured keepsakes of a moment destined to live on as a memory for a lifetime.

As these young hearts embark on their educational journey at St. Bridget’s Convent, we pray that each student may flourish, grow in wisdom and grace, and contribute positively to our world.
