St. Bridget’s Convent Primary School, renowned for its dedication to spiritual growth, organised a blessed pilgrimage for the fourth-grade students on 4th May 2024. This sacred journey marked the commencement of a preparatory path for our First Holy Communicants, who ventured to the magnificent Basilica of Our Lady of Lanka in Tewatta, Ragama.
Enthusiastically and joyfully, the students sang hymns throughout the bus ride, infusing the journey with a spirit of devotion and harmony.
Upon arrival, the students actively participated in the Holy Mass, undertaking readings, joining the offertory procession, and singing hymns during the liturgy with deep fervour, uplifting the entire congregation in worship.
Following the Holy Mass, the students indulged in a brief moment of relaxation amid the peaceful surroundings of the Basilica. Embraced by the beauty of nature, with its abundance of trees offering shade and a sense of serenity, the students enjoyed a shared meal and time for fellowship.
The day continued with a visit to the on-site museum, where the students’ curiosity was piqued by a fascinating display of spiritual artefacts collected over the years. These historical treasures offered a glimpse into the rich traditions of our Catholic faith.
The students, accompanied by their class teachers and Principal, Rev. Sr. Dilrukshika Silva, gathered for the recitation of the Holy Rosary overlooking the picturesque chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. This tranquil setting provided a fitting conclusion to a day filled with spiritual reflection.
Returning to school, our fourth graders carried with them a newfound zeal and enthusiasm to delve deeper into their faith, preparing themselves eagerly to receive Jesus in the Sacrament.
