A Heartwarming Welcome to Our Newest Bridgetines

On the vibrant morning of 22nd February 2024, St. Bridget’s Convent Primary School radiated with excitement as it hosted the Annual Kiddies Welcome Ceremony. This auspicious occasion marked the induction of 196 fortunate Grade 1 students into this prestigious institution, under the watchful care of our Principal Rev. Sr. Dilrukshika Silva.

The event commenced at 8.30 a.m., graced by the esteemed presence of Rev. Fr. Prasad Harshana Perera, Rector of St. Aloysius Seminary, and Rev. Dr. Sr. Selinta Fernando, Directress of the Shepherd Centre, alongside our Community Leader Rev. Sr. Francine Muthugala, the Collegiate School Principal Rev. Sr. Sujani Fernando and the Principal of the Montessori Rev. Sr. Velani De Silva.

Amidst cheer and laughter, the Grade 2 students extended a warm welcome to their juniors, adorning them with floral crowns, a symbol of camaraderie and support.
A heartfelt prayer service, led by the Grade 2 students, set the tone for the day, emphasising the presence of God within each individual, as highlighted in Fr. Prasad’s insightful homily.

The atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement as the programme unfolded with captivating entertainment items, including lively dances and melodious songs, showcasing the diverse talent within the school community.

As the ceremony drew to a close, the Grade 1 students, their eyes gleaming with anticipation and curiosity, were guided to their new classrooms by their dedicated class teachers, ready to embark on their educational journey at St. Bridget’s Convent.
Meanwhile, parents were provided with invaluable guidance and insights by Rev. Fr. Prasad Harshana Perera and Rev. Dr. Sr. Selinta Fernando, preparing them for the enriching journey ahead with their children.

This resplendent reception not only marked the beginning of a new academic year but also epitomised the unwavering commitment of St. Bridget’s Convent Primary School to nurturing and empowering young minds, shaping them into confident and compassionate Bridgetines, guided by the love and grace of God.
As famously quoted by Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

May each student flourish and contribute positively to our world, igniting change wherever they go.
