Celebrating Sr. Dilrukshika Silva’s Feast Day

On Friday, 16th February 2024, the staff and students of St. Bridget’s Convent Primary School gathered to honour a cherished tradition, the feast day of our beloved Primary School Principal, Rev. Sr. Dilrukshika Silva, with joyous hearts. Traditionally observed on 11th February, coinciding with the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, this year’s commemoration held special significance as it marked the first feast day celebrated by our school community under the leadership of our newly appointed Primary School Principal.

The day commenced with a solemn Holy Mass, graciously presided over by Rev. Fr. Rasika Perera.
Joined by the Religious Sisters of the congregation, the atmosphere was imbued with reverence and gratitude.
Sr. Dilrukshika Silva, bearing a lit lamp symbolising enlightenment and divine guidance, processed down the aisle, marking the beginning of this sacred occasion.

Rev. Fr. Rasika’s poignant homily eloquently highlighted the sanctity of life, drawing parallels to Sr. Dilrukshika’s unwavering commitment to serving the Lord. As she tirelessly continues her divine work in His vineyard, her consecrated life serves as a beacon of inspiration to all.

Following the Mass, an enchanting programme unfolded, curated by the Primary School’s diligent staff and talented students.
Our 5th-grade students captivated the audience with a mesmerising dance performance, followed by a heartfelt festal song.
Each grade, eager to express gratitude for Sr. Dilrukshika’s unwavering devotion, presented tokens of appreciation, revealing their admiration for her exemplary leadership.

In her gracious address, Sr. Dilrukshika humbly redirected praise to God, expressing deep appreciation for the memorable celebration in her honour. The programme continued with a captivating melody by the choristers and concluded with the resounding singing of both the school anthem and the national anthem.

As the echoes of celebration faded, hearts remained filled with gratitude for Sr. Dilrukshika Silva’s steadfast leadership and profound dedication to nurturing minds and cultivating a spirit of unity within the school community.
In the spirit of this blessed occasion, we recall the timeless wisdom of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: ‘Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’
May these words guide us as we continue to celebrate the grace and dedication embodied by Sr. Dilrukshika Silva, ever rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks for her remarkable commitment.
