May Crowning 2024
“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!” (Luke 1:42). These sacred words, spoken by Elizabeth in her overwhelming gladness, provided a fitting context for the May Crowning ceremony at St. Bridget’s Convent Primary School on 31st May. The joyous event, coinciding with the Feast of the Visitation, marked the culmination of a month-long devotion to our Blessed Mother, highlighting the deep spiritual commitment that defines our school community.
The celebration commenced with the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Rev. Fr. Marlon Vass. The altar, resplendent with an array of fragrant flowers, created a serene and sacred atmosphere for the Holy Mass.
Following the Mass, a flower-adorned chariot bearing a statue of Mother Mary was carried in solemn procession around the school. This included enthusiastic participation not only from the Primary School but also from our counterparts in the Montessori and Collegiate school, honouring a tradition that has endured for decades. It is through such hallowed traditions that the extraordinary blessings of a Catholic education are truly experienced.
Students joined the procession eagerly, waving flags and balloons, reciting the Holy Rosary, and singing melodious Marian hymns as they walked along pathways beautifully festooned with blue and white flags.
As the procession reached its climax, the statue of our Blessed Mother was gloriously garlanded and crowned with a wreath of flowers, proclaiming Her as Queen of Heaven and Earth. This act of veneration served as a powerful reminder of the importance of seeking Mother Mary’s intercession and guidance in our lives.
May our Blessed Mother continue to illuminate our paths and envelop us in Her maternal grace.
